Who do you think is to blame for the killings of these women?
Who do you think is to blame for the killings of hundreds of women along the Mexican/U.S. border? From Shariff, to the bus drivers, police/government officials, sex slave organization, religious cult, or drug dealers, we have heard many possible suspects and a few have even been convicted. It is apparent to the majority of the class that Shariff is not the sole suspect, and that he could not be the woman-killing mastermind. But who is then? And is it a collaboration of these groups? I feel that the police are to blame for these brutal rapes and murders. From the woman who saw the photo albums and was sexually assaulted by an officer, to the mysterious bodies dressed in other girls' clothing. Also, the new bodies found after the area has been searched, seems awfully fishy to me. I also believe that the government is not doing anything about this due to little evidence against police officers and little enforcement of any new breakthroughs in the cases.

I absolutely have to agree with you; the police are to blame. I also think, however, that there are more reasons to which the government is not doing anything. It is possible that they don't have enough evidence, but if they had done a random search and found pictures, there is plenty of evidence right there. Also, they could have someone paying close attention to the movements of the police officers so that they would not have the time to rape and murder any women, least of all bury their bodies out in the desert. I think that some of it might have to do with what they call the "blue line" over here. It is sort of that idea that the police are a tight knit family and will do anything to protect each other even if they know that something is wrong. Because of this sense of familial responsibility, they will litterally do ANYTHING. If they are already hiding the murders to over 200 women, what makes anyone think that they can't kill the government officials as well? I am just saying, I think that another reason nothing has been done about these awful crimes is because the government officials are afraid as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the police aren't doing all they can to prevent this from happening and to find the person responsible. - J. Bryant
ReplyDeleteMore and more cartels are the ones who run things in Mexico. The people realize and for fear of their lives acknowledge this through their actions.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that evidence has anything to do with it. Their government has plenty of leads to go off of, and with a problem that serious there's no reason not to follow any of those. The fact of the matter is that the government doesn't have enough real power. It's only imagined.
So as for who is responsible, I think many people, but I would guess it's mainly a cartel run deal bought into by various other organizations and private citizens.
So, I disagree that the police are responsible. I think some of them as individuals buy into the practice, but they aren't responsible. You could argue that the Mexican government is responsible for not stopping the problem while it was still relatively contained, but with the evidence provided in the video it would be hard to claim that the police are the proprietors of the situation. I think the evidence much more clearly shows that the police are clients of the activity, or possibly even members of the cartels themselves.
The police are the ones to blame because police men in Mexico are corrupt. Most of the officers or should I say PIGS will let you get away with anything as long as you slip them money. Like you mentioned why wouldnt they do anything to those men that rapped the women. I do know that In Jalisco they are having the same issue happen where murders have gone through the ceiling. However the killers over there are not only attacking random women but also children and men. I also understant that they have the government threatned and if they find them then a genocide will break out. Maybe this is the same possible reason In Juarez. by Jessica
